|A last thought before bed...

I applaud life in all its fullness, beauty, and utmost wonder. I'm eternally grateful for this gift: my place in the inner turnings of the world. Today, walking across campus and drinking in the beauty of the night, the lamplit flowers and the scents of the earth, it struck me just how amazing it is that I have all this, right here within me and without...the macrocosmic clashing of possibilities, dreams and hopes intermeshed in a world of dizzying colors, billions and billions of individual happenings intimately forming the world that's existed for milennia, bilennia, neverending, farther than the eye can see or the mind can imagine.
And I was given a place in this! What an honor and a gift: I want to drink it in with all my might and forget the tiny, jarring dischords that are the annoyances of everyday life. Yet they are, perhaps, the greatest gifts of all: without them the moonlight would not shine quite so beautifully through the trees, and the feel of the keyboard under my fingers not quite as tangible.
We need these moments to remind us of our senses, and we need our senses to remind us of the things most glorious about the lives we live. Don't forget them, for they are precious bits of everything good in the world through pure substitution.
