Wow...finally a good entry! [Feb. 8th, 2004|08:52 am]
Amanda
[Current Mood |dorkydorky]

I had the perfect thing to write about, but I completely forgot what it was. So maybe if I start writing, something good will come of it.

LiveJournal is such a cool site, and it's more than a site to me--it's an opportunity to meet new people, write down your thoughts and, ultimately, get companionship when you need it most. I'm incredibly thankful to have met all of you, and I mean that.

Okay, I still haven't remembered what I was going to say, but I've been meaning to say that anyway, so there it is.

Another thing--what do you think it's like to be a tree? I have no idea whatsoever, but I'd love to learn it someday. In A Language Older Than Words there's a chapter called "The Plants Respond". All of you should read it, definitely. And, if you have time, the rest of the book.
But anyway, I simply don't understand how people can cut down trees, all the while thinking of them as mere objects. Or how they can pull weeds. I mean, just because plants are incredibly different from us doesn't mean they don't have feelings. And thoughts, and perception, even if these are not what we personally know to be thoughts and perceptions.
It's just like life on other planets--most scientists assume that other lifeforms would need to breathe air and drink water, etc. But what if they're so different from us that they need completely different things than we do to survive?
That's how it is with plants. People think that if they don't have eyes, they can't see. But what if they see in a completely different way, using a completely different method, that we don't even recognize as a form of seeing? Or what if they have a sense that's just as good as seeing, yet completely different?

Anyway, just my thoughts. We all neeed to broaden our horizons and not take things for granted. Not an easy thing to do, but I think it's important that we do.
I'm not sure if anyone else will understand this entry, and I'm not sure if I do even, but I think I did an okay job of describing everything.
Well have a good day, my friends!!!

Attitude of Gratitude! It's not just a platitude;)

Wow...amaaaaaaZING...entry! You go, Girl! tee hee

Seriously though, you have a valid point. I understand what you are saying. To my way of thinking, the greatest gift anyone can give me as a spiritual being is ...please just help me see something in a NEW, different, enlightened way than i was able to look at it before. Ya know? It's a blessing! It takes courage. 4~Real! Just my ideas though. You make up your own mind on it. Don't just take my word for it. Innovative thinking is miraculous to me.

I second your motion all the way: I am extremely, extraordinarily appreciative for the friends I have in this site. It is the BEST! You can interface and get *clear* on the garbage we all have to deal with. I don't feel so "on my own" now. Ya know? It is transforming really. Keep up the good work! Have a glorious day, my friend(s)! ~safe luv~ ^^^LEIGH^^^

Wow--thanks! That's how I see things too (the greatest gift being getting to see things in new ways).
I hope you have a great day as well :)

My thoughts exactly! :D

I've wondered what it would be like to be a tree too. They live so long... And what would it be like seeing someone come at you with a saw? Poor lil trees. :(
