Worried, concerned, whatever you choose to call it [Jul. 12th, 2003|08:42 pm]
[Current Mood |worriedworried]

I'm worried about the fawn my mother saw crossing the road near the wildlife center. When I came to the car she said that the little spotted deer had come up the embankment, slipped on the road, got up again and ran to where a dried-up lake was. Then he/she disappeared. I'm worried that something happened to the fawn's mother and that's why he/she was wandering around, but I know that in cases like these the mother is usually somewhere close by. That doesn't keep me from worrying, though...and the shrike with the broken leg...well, I hope they're both okay.

Again I'm contemplating the horrors of Highway 25. We saw a hawk the other day in the middle of the road, obviously dead, and when we passed through again the hawk was gone. I wonder what happened, and if there's another hawk out there that will die of grief, or a nestful of much younger hawks that will die of starvation. These things that I fear sometimes...I hope none of them will come true.

On a lighter note, I've been experimenting with different LJ fonts. It's a lotof fun (yeah, I know I'm weird).

It is difficult to see an animal that's suffering or something, and not be concerned. Deer are especially beautiful. I could never, ever understand how someone
could go out and kill one of these defenseless creatures, and call it "sport". The very thought horrifies me.
Is it okay if i send the book UPS? If not, i'll send
it through the post office, but UPS is easier. I'll try and send it out this week.

Yeah, deer are amazing. And although I'm sure he/she will be okay, I still worry. Fortunately the fawn was in a no-hunting zone, but there are still so many that are not. It's like people who go out to get a "trophy" want to feel powerful, like they're above the rest of the world if they murder a deer and hang the corpse on their wall. It horrifies me, too.
Yeah, UPS would be just fine. And thanks a lot--I really appreciate it.
