So much has happened (this post is parenthesis city!). [Jul. 3rd, 2006|10:11 am]
[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

Saturday night we went over to Ari's grandmother, Leona's, house. Ari and I cooked up some Food Adventures for everybody. We made fried plantains, eggplant medallions, kiwi and apricot. We'd also gone looking for Interesting Things at the store and found Purple Corn Juice (popular in South American countries) and some random Polish cookies (the packages were in Polish!). There were sandwiches and homemade Java Chip ice cream that Ellen and Gene (Ari's lovely parents, for those who don't know) had picked up, too. It was a delicious night. I forgot how therapeutic it is to cook.

I'm going in to work today. Leona and Ellen were so wonderful to me...they went through Leona's old blouses (which no longer fit her) and gave me some to wear to work (they require collared shirts). They are GORGEOUS. They don't make shirts like those anymore! The colors, and the sleeves...they're so beautiful in a way that seems to have vanished now.
That was so sweet of them to care enough to do that. I'll really have the confidence to start learning the register today with knowing I'm wearing shirts given to me in love (same reason I'll be wearing Mama's ring).
I'll try to take photos soon because you people haven't seen me in ages. Preferably in these beautiful clothes.

Martial arts is doing great. I'm in the classes Gene teaches on Sunday mornings. It's really surprising how quickly I'm improving, and it's a wonderful way to steady my thoughts and feel good about myself. Not to mention the exercise and coordination factors.

I STILL haven't replied to comments. Once again, I'm sorry and I'll try to soon.
