Today was a lot of fun. Sorry I haven't been able to comment on a lot of your posts, but I did skim through all of them. I had three pages to go through--wow! Anyway, today was The Taste of Morgan Hill, and I was there for ten hours (with a few breaks) helping with the wildlife. I held Lazarus the gopher snake and Toby the opossum, and talked about Pockets the pocket gopher. I also helped sell raffle tickets.
And I got to see dancenfree too. She and her sons are so nice! I'm really glad I got to see them (although the visit was shorter than I would have liked), and will probably get to see her again soon. I'm really looking forward to it.
Oh yeah, and some of the questions/comments of note we were asked were:
--What is this?
--Is this bird for sale?
--Is it real?
--Can I hold the opossum (or snake)?
--I have these all over my yard!
Anyway, interesting questions. The "is this bird for sale" question kind of bothers me, because they are wild animals that wouldn't even be with us if they could survive in the wild. Plus you need a special permit for it to even be legal to keep them, and even then they're never kept as pets.
The "is it real" question was directed at sleeping Oscar, the screech owl, by the way.
Big day. Good day. I'm sleepy. Good night. (reads over last paragraph) Uh-oh--I'd better go now.
